Safe Countries for Solo Women to Travel To
(Ranked by a Female Traveler Who’s Been to 40+ Countries)

Traveling solo as a woman is one of the most empowering things you can do but safety always comes first. After visiting 40+ countries across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, North America, and Latin America, I’ve personally experienced what destinations truly feel safe, welcoming, and easy for solo female travelers and which ones require a little more street smarts. That is why I created this guide for safe countries for solo women to travel to.

This guide ranks safe countries for solo women to travel to, based on real-world experience, walkability, public transportation, cultural respect toward women, solo dining comfort, ease of navigation, and overall “at-ease” feeling not just crime statistics.

Each country includes city-level safety impressions and female-specific travel tips, so you can travel smarter, not just braver.

🌟 Overall Essential Safety Tips for Solo Female Travelers

  • Trust your gut as it’s almost always right.
  • Always share your live location with someone you trust. I have my location shared with 3 of my friends.
  • Walk with purpose, even when lost. Fake that you know where you’re going until you make it back to a more safe, neutral area. The more lost and naive you look, the more vulnerable you become.
  • Use Uber, Bolt, or Grab instead of taxis. Uber also has a PIN verification feature that I recommend turning on.
  • Keep 2 wallets with small cash and 2 cards. One you take out with you if you need cash or a card while traveling. The other you stow in a private pocket in your luggage with your passport in case you have your wallet stolen while out, you still have extra cash and another card to utilize.
